Is it active gear ? ( Not passive ) Right?

最後修改時間: 2010-10-01 14:11:41 - #11 [tvc], 10-10-01 14:15My other transformer volume control in a China made wooden box. Better sounding than it was in a metal box.
The transformer core is amorphous which is quite transparant sounding. - #12 [PLL], 10-10-01 14:40mc240 兄,
請問兄台用緊乜類型Passive Pre ?
Transformer type or Resistor? - #13 [mc240], 10-10-01 14:46Hi I am thinking of getting Music First Classic pre amp? any feedback or comments?
Thanks - #14 [PLL], 10-10-01 15:01Form my experience.. ..( Caused passive pre-amp no dB Gain )
If you adopted passive Pre-Amp. you must have a high Gain Power-Amp.
I'm using that DIY Power-Amp around 50dB Gain.
Because usually Pre-Amp + Power-Amp around 50dB Gain.
( Pre 20dB + Power 30dB = 50dB Gain )
In case not enough dB Gain such as 30dB Gain Power-Amp. The sound performance become not enough Dynamic Force . - #15 [pansonpoon], 10-10-02 17:00Sensitivity may be easier to find in power amp spec. If it is 1 ~ 1.5 Vrms, a CD player with passive pre-amp is sufficient to fully driver the power amp.
- #16 [twice], 10-10-02 19:04These were passive pre I've used. R = resistor type, T = transformer based
1) R: Audio Synthesis V (Vishay resistors)
2) R: Luminious Audio Axiom,
3) R: Tweakaudio Ultimate Attenuators,
4) T: Django TVC (Billington tannies)
5) T: Promitheus Audio Signature (dual mono double c-core tannies)
I find 'T' sounds superior than 'R' in general. Here attached the Promitheus inner.

- #19 [jefftse], 10-10-04 03:10Read this guys - summing up many good perspectives: You don't have to agree with him but he has some good points:
"Any system that sounds better with the addition of an "Active" Linestage is an unequivocal indication that:
A mistake has been made in the choice and "the matching" of the components and/or cables."

I finally settle on the McCormack TLC-1 after many years of treasure hunting. Some said resistive preamp is not dynamic and muddy bass - NO WAY for this TLC-1. Anyway, there is always another better passive preamp out there so what the hack! Let's go back to the music. - #20 [dominique], 10-10-06 14:09McCormack is very good.
I just sold my McCormack ALD-1 to another R33 C-hing.
Great value and dynamic sound !!!! - 下一頁 (1 of 14)
